Harikuyo

Harikuyo is a memorial service held in shrines and temples in Japan for the broken sewing needles of the past year.

I think that might be one of the most intriguing traditions I’ve ever heard, and since the day I first read about it I’ve been fascinated. So that’s what this blog will be….a memorial of broken sewing needles, ideas that have not yet come to fruition, plans that have been torn down, questions in process and thoughts that need to be written down in order to start to figure them out.

I’m really excited for this….although I want to read the book first.

The trailer for Nora Ephron’s ‘Julie & Julia’

Based on the book ‘Julia & Julia’, This film is partially based on Julia Child’s cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” as well a being based around Julie Powell’s real life experiences trying to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking, in 365 day period. This film intertwines the lives of both Julia’s in what looks to be a charming story of cooking, life and love.

This film is set for release on August 7th, 2009.
